Years ago, I was in a used book store and I grabbed a free bookmark they were giving out. It had a cute girl on the cover wearing a black dress and was called Jinx. "Huh, looks like it could be interesting" I thought, but quickly forgot as life moved on. Until a few weeks later, when I was in another bookstore (the now closed Borders). They had it right up front, like they were daring me to spend yet another $8.00 on a book. Damn it. They know me too well! I'm an easy mark. I quickly fell in love with the character of Bella Bulluci and the deviliciously dashing Debonair and it left me craving more. I HAD to know the background of Carmen Cole and the Fiery Fiona Fine. So I wound up back at Borders the very next day, spending another $16.00. Let's not discuss the insane amount of books I own, OK?
I quickly fell in love with Carmen. A reporter who, on her wedding day, finds her fiance Matt and her best friend Karen, in bed together. Yet that's not the most distressing part. She also finds out that her fiance is the towns resident superhero and her best friend for life is the towns resident ubervillian! Talk about 50 shades of betrayed. Of course, this is the plot line that leads her straight to Bigtime, New York, and straight into the path of The Terrible Triad and The Fearless Five. And straight into the scorn of Same Sloane and the protection of the super sexy Striker.
I'm a huge lover of superhero plot lines and strong women. Which these books have plenty of. I'm not sure if I can buy these in print anymore, which is really sad, as my copies are tattered from being read over and over. The 4th book was actually never released in print, having recently come out in e-book format. A format you can buy all the books in, for only $4 each!
Book 1: Karma Girl
Book 2: Hot Mama
Book 3: Jinx
Christmas Novella: A Karma Girl Christmas
Book 4: Nightingale
Jennifer Estep also has two other series, that are in print. Her Gin Blanco Spider series and her young adult Mythos Academy series. Both which I own. I love her style of writing and her commitment to writing strong females, not just someone who is waiting for a man to save her. Of course there's romance, but the hero of the story is always the girls. As it should be. We are the stronger sex after all. ;)

It's been so long, but I'm annoyed
I often get annoyed at news articles. Bowser and I discuss them often. Especially during political season. (I'm so ready for it to be over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) But this article really annoyed me.
http://news.yahoo.com/man-sued-wife-birthing-ugly-baby-110500995.html;_ylt=AreoxsnnVKY6a4Zv6h30hq7zWed_;_ylu=X3oDMTVxNXVnY3ZmBGNjb2RlA2dtcHRvcDEwMDBwb29sd2lraXVwcmVzdARtaXQDQXJ0aWNsZSBNaXhlZCBMaXN0IE5ld3MgZm9yIFlvdSB3aXRoIE1vcmUgTGluawRwa2cDZGIwYzE5YzgtM2NmYS0zOGFiLTg2YzAtZDQzZmRmMDVmYmVhBHBvcwMxBHNlYwNuZXdzX2Zvcl95b3UEdmVyAzg0MzhlMDEwLTI0MzYtMTFlMi1iY2JmLTIyNzc1MGM3MGRiNg--;_ylg=X3oDMTJtaGR2ZWZ1BGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDYzYwMThlNGEtZTc1NS0zZThkLTgyMzYtMTMzYTk0YmZkZmFiBHBzdGNhdAN1LXMEcHQDc3RvcnlwYWdl;_ylv=3
Sued his wife for having an ugly baby? And he won? The real victim here is the child. All because mom had plastic surgery in the past. What a superficial asshole.

I'm a crappy blogger
2 months. 2 months since my last post. Honestly, I've probably only written 3 since Yoshi was born. 6 months ago.
It's been a fast 6 months. He already seems so grown up! He's adorable and well loved by his parents and his big sisters. Angelica keeps trying to play mommy and it's getting old. Heaven forbid I give him a new food without running it by her. OMG! She heard a whimper during naptime, I better run and grab him NOW! As annoying as it is, it's also pretty cute.
Daphne is his favorite sister. There's no doubt about that. I'm sure it will change, but you can't fault an infant for playing favorites (Mommy wins by a landslide though). He lights up when she walks in a room and just watching her can send him into a fit of giggles.
He is finally on a schedule and we are still going strong on breastfeeding. His favorite foods are spaghetti and Chicken with avocado (pureed together). His favorite dessert is ice cream. Of course, ice cream is a frozen banana mixed with other fruits and oatmeal. He doesn't know the difference. Shhhh... Don't tell him the truth!

Guess Where We Are Going.....!!!!!
Shh.... It's a secret! We aren't telling the kids. Though, how I will be able to keep my mouth shut for a year and a half, I don't know!
Free Disney Tickers As for this year, in 2 weeks, we head for a nice relaxing vacation at my Godmothers lake house. I spent all my summers with her and this lake house until I went to foster care. I haven't been since I turned 18 and the kids have NEVER been! I can't wait.

NO!!!!!
We've got a roller! Yoshi started rolling over on both sides a month ago, but the other day realized he can roll where he wants to go! Crap. Time to baby proof this house. I am slacker mom. Totally should have donenthis already.
So, our family has started attending church. I like it, I do. However I find myself conflicted. What do I do if they start bashing gay rights? Walk out in the middle of service? I have done it before. Sadly, the kids like this one. And so do I. They mentioned the show Modern Family. Mentioned all the families in it. Didn't preach the gay fathers were wrong. So I canncross my fingers in hope!
Also, Blog updating from a kindle sucks. Hence the lack of Blog posts. Yoshi is my appendage, so I don't get to the laptop often.

Cover? I don't need no stinkin cover!
Here is the new link to vote for Asher!!!!
Asher sleeps with me. I know, I know. Co-sleeping is awful and all that. So is falling asleep from sheer exhaustion because your child won't sleep. So, last night, I wake up SOAKED. Why? Apparently my dear darling husband thought Ash could go without a cover over the prefold all night. I am here to say that's not going to work out very well.
"There's no way I didn't put a cover on! It must have fallen off!" Yes dear, it fell off and walked back to the changing table. Told you covers were awesome!

Dear Parents Magazine
When you run a contest you should have all the kinks worked out. What amazes me is that you guys were doing fine during the other weeks of the contest, but for some reason, this week, OUR WEEK, it's been plagued by nothing but problems. Broken links and giving links to the WRONG child. Then saying "Oh, it's fixed, here is your link, but it changes daily, so check your email!" and still sending me the link to the WRONG child. So then, friends scroll to find my child, vote, only to later find out that this was screwed up too, and they were voting for the wrong child AGAIN.
Here's today's supposedly fixed link. Can't hurt to try I guess?

Yes, I do think my son is adorable
See that picture up there? Click on it. I entered Asher into the Parent Magazine Cover contest, and we think that he is the most adorable baby in the world of course (we might be a bit biased of course). You can vote daily, which would be totally awesomely radical if you would (I have 80's themes stuck in my head. You can tell by my girls side ponytails)
Yes, I know I haven't been around since JANUARY. Bad blogger. BAD BAD BAD! I blame the Kindle. It's really hard to type on that thing without spelling errors, and I hate looking stupid. Or I hit x instead of my space bar on it, soxthexsentencexlooksxlikexthis. Annoying, right?

It's been a busy week!
Last Monday, I went to the hospital to have my son. We arrived arrived at 7am and Asher was born at 12:32pm, weighing in at 9lbs 13oz. 1lb and 3oz more than my last baby. Apparently I grow them big even without Gestational Diabetes, right? I'm still waiting a few more weeks, but the doctors do think I had diabetes before I was pregnant. So I can thank Asher for finding this out for me now. :(
Here I am at 7:30am, right before they put me in the room that I would return to for recovery (at least my hair looked pretty...)
This is also the room I spent getting out of bed every 2 minutes to pee in due to the IV's. I also spent a good amount of time crying. I would like to blame most of the tears from watching Jo and Ellen dying on Supernatural, but I can't lie. I was terrified. I didn't want to be cut open. I wanted my epidural free vaginal delivery. It just wasn't possible.
After being bumped a few times (such is life in a hospital!) and my husband sleeping in the chair next to me, my awesome nurse brought in our "outfits" for the OR. I got a pretty blue cap and he was given a giant yellow dress and a blue cap. I called him Big Bird quite a few times while lying on that operating table. I am not kidding about how wonderful my nurse was. She was the person who did my first hospital NST and I fell in love with her then. It was a Godsend that she was the person that was there to take care of me and comfort me even though I was a hormonal mess over the c-section.
You don't need all the gory details, but as my husband says, the first cries from your newborn are the most beautiful music you will ever hear. Even when lying on an operating room table having your placenta pulled out through a large cut in belly! (nice visual? I got a better one when said husband decided to let me know that he saw my intestines and described my placenta. Damn it dude! You weren't supposed to look you seeing over the curtain tall ass freak! Much love though darling)
Not long after, we were taken back to recovery, where I was finally able to hold my beautiful son. Where over the next golden hour, everyone was amazed to find out that he had no blood sugar issues!
