My babies are up for adoption!

And my sweet girl Sunflower (Sunny). We almost lost Sunny because she refused to eat. She had a 25% weight loss, which is drastic in kitten world. She was the runt, but she is the most loving and most beautiful of the bunch! photo Sunny2.jpg

Why I love Crazy 8

Those are all shirts (1 jacket!) that I have been wanting since last season.  Which would have cost me $70 then.  A few months later?  $20.  I bought a size larger in all things, so he should fit.  Is it strange that I had to buy 3-4t for my 18 month old to fit into when he's 2yrs?  He's a freaking giant.

Heterochromia Part Deux

I knew I would eventually remember to snap a picture of her eyes now, and look at me!  I remembered with her home less than 24 hours!

I always said I would be a foster mama...

I just thought I was a talking about humans.  Instead, I wound up with CATS.  My husband LOVES me...  We have 3 foster babies.  They've been here for 20 days now, and they took over the house.

We have Knight

Fish Stick

And Sunflower (aka Sunny)

Sunny is the runt of the litter, and we almost lost her. Having two older brothers who pushed her out of the way to get their bellies full wasn't good for her.  Luckily, she has 3 girls in this house to help her.  She'll always be tiny (she's half the length of Fish Stick), but she's sweet and snuggly.

Fish Stick is what I would call the perfect family cat.  He's sweet and loving, but playful too.  The Demanding Prince can terrorize him, and he takes it.  Can't say that about a cat often, right?

Knight, I like to call him Doctor Evil.  He's what you think of, when you think of cat stereotypes.  He wants nothing to do with you until he wants you.  Then, you better let him sit on your chest.

Asher, the AMAZING pirate!

Heterochromia

The Royal Princess has an eye color that I adore.  This picture is from 2010, but the color has intensified even more now.  Of course, I'm writing this at the same time that she's called to let me know that she arrived at the beach safely, so I can't get a recent photo.

Kind of funny to me that a word used to describe an eye color that swings both ways, incorporates Hetero into it. However, I was excited to find out that her crazy eyes actually have a name!  I'm jealous of my daughters eye color, in a family full of gorgeous brown eyes.

It's the first day of WHAT?

The heat should have been a dead giveaway that summer was here.  Maybe I was trying to ignore it?  Hoping it would disapear in a portal and spring would exist again in North Carolina?  No such luck.  Spring fled from this state years ago.  If anyone knows where it is, please let me know.  Tell Spring how much I miss her and want her back.

The kids aren't thrilled with summer either.  For my Princess, it means that we go back to the 60/40 split.  Which is confusing.  For the Drama Tween, it means she's still ground for the Facebook debacle.  The debacle where she had a secret FB account for 5 months, with the help of a neighbor.  She's now banned from all electronics.  To see the eyeroll when you yell at her to drop her brothers Leappad...  It's majestic.  The majestic eyeroll of scorn!  I'll take it as a badge of honor.  If you're not rolling your eyes, I'm screwing something up.

Both the girls were accepted into the brand new charter school here.  I was screaming with glee over the fact that they no longer have to attend school in this district anymore.  I think we have the worst district in the state.  Or at least Tweens is the worst school.  With a principal who tells me that a child threatening to physically harm my daughter is protected by freedom of speech, who can blame me for thinking that?

The Demanding Prince is demanding as always.  It's worth it though, when he smiles, hugs you, and kisses you.  His sisters adore him more every day, and that's something that keeps a smile on my face.  For now.  One day, he'll become that annoying little brother, but for now, he's sweetness and love.

Me?  I'm just counting down the days to the Disney trip.

Assimilated. Part of the hive

My kids are weird.  Maybe all kids are weird.  I don't know, I generally only associate with mine.  Except for this week, this week I have my cousins daughter.  Yay spring break!  (I'm also making a Stargate cake, but I can't share it until after tonight.  Scouts honor).  Cousins daughter has nothing to do with this though.  This is all my kids.  Remember when we would embarrass our parents with the clothes we wore and when in public? Then you would run into someone they knew and they had this look on their face?

OK, so I grew up in foster care, so I'm not positive my parents would have, but based on my experience with my kids, I assume they would. The kids put together some special outfits. Royal Princess has some especially garish designs, but I let her do it, because hey, more power to her, right? Then we run into someone I know and I'm all

Then today I needed socks. I don't know where the hell spring went. She showed her face and then turned around and told me to kiss her ass. So my feet were cold. I blame the bitch that is spring for that. SCREW YOU. Good God I can ramble. So, I asked for socks. I forgot that my childrens ideas of matching differs from mine. And once I put them on, I thought I looked rather cute. photo P1100480_zps4e2756a9.jpg

Thanks Pinterest!

I did the overachieving April Fools Day Mom thing last year.  This year, I don't have the energy, plus it's a Monday, when The Husband helped out so much last year and without that support, I suck.  So, this year, they get brownies.  Pinterest style

Of course, I have the real things. Just finished baking them and am hiding them in the bedroom until after dinner. Making my children go crazy has its limits.  Of course, the kids had their own prank to play, that they have been planning for an entire year.  Salt in the sugar bowl.  Should make The Husbands morning coffee extra interesting!

I Squishy Heart IKEA

We are buying the girls loft beds.  SHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They don't know.  It's a surprise.  We went to Ikea to look at the ones we are after (metal beds, because wooden beds aren't cool, according to my deluded 10yr old).  After seeing them, my husband was convinced they were best for the room, to free up space.  Now we just need to make sure they will fit.  We left $67 later.  That's not including lunch.  I've never been so grateful to be full fast in my life.  I got a wrap.  Something that costs me 323 calories at home.  If I had eaten the whole thing at Ikea?  800 calories.  For a buffalo chicken wrap.  It would have been only 30 calories more to get the swedish meatball plate!

OK, off of calorie counting for a moment, I did get something cool.  I've been wanting one of those road rugs for Asher.  You know the ones that have roads all over them, that you drive cars on?  That I keep finding for $40+?  I got a small one for only $13.  That's right.  $13.
 photo P1100130.jpg

I then bought 2 scrapbooks that are adorable and cloth covered for only $2.60 a piece.  We will give them to the girls for Disney to get autographs.  I'll later place the pictures of them with each character.  I also bought quite a few other things, including a baking tray and an awesome marble rolling pin.  (only 15!!!!!)
 photo P1100141.jpg

IKEA should pay me for this blog post. And because my kids are gorgeous....

It was all dad's fault

We were talking about camping tonight, as my husband is dying to go.  The ever vocal drama tween piped up with "if a bear eats me, my tombstone has to read it was all dad's fault".  Even in death, she wants to blame her dad.

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Guess who finally got his smile back?  I was starting to think he would never smile or laugh again, my poor little man was so lethargic and pitiful.  Today, he woke up and was all bounces and smiles!

To Be A Drama Tween When Sick

And to be so pretty while being sick!  In fairness, as soon as she threw up, she declared she was feeling much better.  And then screamed that she hated me and that I was the worst mother ever when told her that she would NOT be going to a friends birthday party today.

2 down, 3 to go...

I don't think I've ever seen this baby not smile. :(

We're Back!

So, I posted the other day about a board I frequent.  Long story short, there was some drama.  When isn't there, when you get a huge group of women together?  However, this was power tripping drama.  That lead to the great board split of 2013.  And to an awesome new site that some awesome mamas put together fast.  In fact, you could say that We Came For The Bargains....

But stayed for the drama.

Suessy Breastfeeding

While reading a local mommy forum, I came across this poem.  Made me smile.  Before anyone gets offended, I do not care how you feed your child, just as long as you feed your child.  Now, to the poem!

Would you nurse her in the park?
Would you nurse him in the dark?
Would you nurse him with a Boppy?
And when your boobs are feeling floppy?

I would nurse him in the park,
I would nurse her in the dark.
I’d nurse with or without a Boppy.
Floppy boobs will never stop me.

Can you nurse with your seat belt on?
Can you nurse from dusk till dawn?
Though she may pinch me, bite me, pull,
I will nurse her `till she’s full!

Can you nurse and make some soup?
Can you nurse and feed the group?
It makes her healthy strong and smart,
Mommy’s milk is the best start!

Would you nurse him at the game?
Would you nurse her in the rain?
In front of those who dare complain?
I would nurse him at the game.
I would nurse her in the rain.

As for those who protest lactation,
I have the perfect explanation.
Mommy’s milk is tailor made
It’s the perfect food, you need no aid.

Some may scoff and some may wriggle,
Avert their eyes or even giggle.
To those who can be cruel and rude,
Remind them breast’s the perfect food!

I would never scoff or giggle,
Roll my eyes or even wiggle!
I would not be so crass or crude,
I KNOW that this milk’s the perfect food!

We make the amount we need
The perfect temp for every feed.
There’s no compare to milk from breast-
The perfect food, above the rest.

Those sweet nursing smiles are oh so sweet,
Mommy’s milk is such a treat.
Human milk just can’t be beat.

I will nurse, in any case,
On the street or in your face.
I will not let my baby cry,
I’ll meet her needs, I’ll always try.
It’s not about what’s good for you,
It’s best for babies, through and through.

I will nurse her in my home,
I will nurse her when I roam.
Leave me be lads and ma’am.
I will nurse her, Mom I am.

...and we all fall down

Royal Princess came home from her weekend at her dads yesterday.  She said she tried to call me, but they wouldn't let her.  (How shocking)  Why did my baby girl want to call me?  She fell victim to the wonderful stomach virus going around.  We all know how contagious that bitch can be.  My poor baby looks so pitiful.  :(

So we meet again, Margo Moo Cow

A device of torture really shouldn't look so happy.  Is she cheerful that I am about to terrorize my son twice a day for a minimum of a week?  Is she trying to smirk?  Is it some form of sarcasm on behalf of her makers?

 photo P1100022_zpsc93279a8.jpg

My demanding prince is sick.  Double ear infections and so much congestion that the doctor said he was making her head hurt for him.  Yet, despite my sleepless nights and his clingier state, he's HAPPY.  Smiling and giggling.  Being his demanding self.  Is this buttering me up for torture to come in later years?  "Mom, you can't be angry, remember what a sweet baby I was?  That totally makes up for me driving the neighbors car into the lake! You owe me mom!"

It true, after years of torture at the hands of Margo Moo Cow, I probably will owe him.

Just when you stop believing in weird

I belong to a few mommy boards online.  There's Babycenter, the forum that introduced me to how bad the mommy wars can be, and transformed me into the mom that I am.  There's a private board in a private place, there's the Babycenter spin off, Bargainhuntingmamas.com, and then there is a local board I found out about early last year.  The local board was strange to me, because for some reason, I just didn't picture my little town having something like that.

On the local board, there is a sub forum for AP moms (attachment parenting).  About a week ago, I posted about how I feel lonely sometimes, because I don't quite fit in around here.  That I've had mean things said due to my so called "crunchy" ideas.  Then today, at a Doctor Suess thing at our local mall, I saw a mom babywearing.  This is the FIRST time I've seen a mom babywearing outside of the internet.  (Bjorns don't count).

It was one of the moms commenting on the thread!  I didn't realize it until I had gotten home of course and was updating my thread about the coincidence.  Sometimes it's the little things that can seem so big when you are feeling so alone.  :)

I think we're crazy

My husband and I planning on staining our ugly kitchen cabinets.  He just requested the time off for us to do it.  I think we've lost our minds.  While more expensive to pay someone to do it, it would be SOOOOOO much easier!

Not Such A Slacker After All

The girls picked the placement of the paper on the letters.  All I did was trace, cut, and mod podge the crap out of them.  Not fully done, but I wanted to let the blogging world know that I'm not completely slacking in life.  Not all of it. The picture is horrible, I don't feel like messing with it.

I am crafty, damn it!!!

No, I haven't done the letters yet. They are all sitting on my table, staring at me. Mocking me. The paper does make a great back drop for my other craft project though! Royal Princess had to do a project based on the Old Lady Swallowed (everything in the freaking world and she needs to see someone about her obvious pica problem. Maybe her iron is low?). So we decided to make the yarn egg, with a toy inside. We chose a fish. How a fish got inside an egg, we don't know. Let's not question it, OK? (I got the idea from here )

I Made This!

Have you ever looked at a craft and thought "hey!  I can do that!".  You rush to the craft store, spending tons of money on all the stuff to make this *cheaper* version of something you can just buy, the thrill of craftiness filling your body.

You get home, lay everything down, eyes filled with the promise of something awesome to come, only to say "What the hell was I thinking? I can't do this crap!"

Yeah.  I'm there.  I've had wooden letters for the girls rooms since before I was even pregnant.  Drama Tween still went by her first name, that's how long ago it was.  (For the record, she now goes by her first name at school.  Only the people she's super close to can call her by her middle name nickname)  Originally, I was going to paint them, but let's face it.  I'm lazy.  Super lazy.  If laziness was a superpower, I would be the most powerful superhero EVER.

Why did I suddenly come back to The Craft That Time Forgot?  I bought a new washer and dryer (you don't want to hear about that drama, trust me.  I don't think HH Gregg wants to hear about it either.  Sucks for them!).  Because of that purchase, we cleaned the laundry room and came across those letters again.  A light bulb went off in my head.  PAINT?  Why do something as mundane as PAINT.  That's sooooooo  2008.  Imma modge podge those suckers (which is sooooo 2009, but shut up.  My other superpower is being late to fads).

Yesterday was a nice eventful trip to the Lobby of Expensive Hobbies.  I got out with a small bottle of modge podge and 10 sheets of pretty paper picked by the girls for just under $12.00.  And yes, my eyes were filled with excitement.  Until I got home and wondered "What the hell do I think I'm doing?"

Here are the papers the girls picked out.  Drama Tween picked rocks because...  I don't know why.  I pointed out that it didn't quite fit, but her room, her choice.  Royal Princess on the other hand was after my heart with her choices.  I was shocked at her color choices!  Photobucket

I'll be sure to update if I ever get around to actually following through with the project... And because I can't pull out a camera without the Demanding Prince following me around until I snap his photo, here he is!

Yoshi turned 1...9 days ago!

I made him a Mario Brothers cake, with a 1UP mushroom on top, that was his smash cake. He seemed to like it!
